3D street art highlights global call for disarmament
From October 1-3, a 3D street painting of a nuclear missile being fired from the ground was unveiled next to the German Parliament. ‘At the Nuclear Abyss’ served as a graphic reminder that there are more than 15,000 nuclear weapons in the world, 1800 of them able to be launched within minutes.

Study Tour: Driving up regional cooperation for Renewables in the European Union

„Renewable Energy can be a tool to bring back Union to Europe”. This is the conclusion of 13 regional policy-makers from 7 EU countries, who travelled from Denmark via Germany and the Netherlands to Belgium with us to study what regional cooperation means and how it can support boosting renewable energy in Europe. After visiting inspiring projects across the North Sea region, the delegation met with Members of the European Parliament and the European Commission in Brussels to share their learnings with those decision-makers, who are currently developing the new legislation for the energy market in the EU.

Update: Marshall Islands’ nuclear disarmament cases at the International Court of Justice (ICJ)
On 5 October, the ICJ dismissed the Marshall Islands’ nuclear disarmament cases without considering the merits after it narrowly upheld the objection of the UK, India and Pakistan that there was no dispute, and therefore the ICJ does not have jurisdiction to hear the case on the merits. World Future Councillor, David Krieger, noted “With the lawsuits, the Marshall Islands challenged the nuclear-armed states to show good faith in meeting the universal legal obligation to pursue and conclude negotiations on complete nuclear disarmament.”
