Algae Production Workshop 2018

Where commercial algae producers collaborate

Topics:

New Algae Markets, Supply Channels and Pricing

Algae has proven to be a valuable sustainable feedstock for many different industries.

It can be made into high-value nutraceutical Omega 3 EPA/DHA, cosmetics, food, animal feed, biofertilizer, biostimulants, bioplastics and potential fuels.

The National Algae Association is the first non-profit algae education and production trade association. We support commercially-minded algae researchers, algae producers and equipment companies in the US and throughout the world.

Algae has been researched in the United States starting with the release of the first Carnegie Mellon algae study over 70 years ago. University algae research grant researchers have stated that “all algae technology hurdles had been met. It is all engineering and scale up going forward”.

Commercial algae producers collect data on cultivation, harvesting and extraction to improve processes, scalability and keeping CAPEX low. Private industry along with private investment are moving forward, taking on the learning curve of scale-up of commercial production – something that is not learned in the lab.

Our next Algae Production Workshop in the Fall of 2018 will be focused on commercial algae producers opening new markets, supply channels and pricing strategies for the production of Omega 3 EPA/DHA – astaxanthin, Cosmetics, Food, Animal Feed, Biofertilizer, Bioplastics and potential Algae Biofuels.
