Sarah Stranahan, New Economy Network Coordinator, New York, NY

Sarah Stranahan is Network Coordinator for the New Economy Network. Sarah has more than 20 years of experience in mission related investing, community organizing, and social change philanthropy. She received a BA from the Evergreen State College in 1982 and an MA from the University of Pennsylvania in 1985. As a long term Board member of the Needmor Fund she helped design and oversee its grant program in support of community organizing and its integrated mission related investment program. She worked as a grant writer for Citizens for Health, Environment and Justice from 1992-1994. In 1993 she researched and co-produced the study, “What is Good Grantmaking for Social Justice” for the National Network of Grantmakers. She chaired the Social Justice and the Media Reform grant committees at the Threshold Foundation from 1996-2004. Sarah is a Board member of the Stranahan Foundation and sits on its Strategic Initiative and Finance Committees. She serves on the Finance Committee of the Council on Foundations, where she is helping to implement a mission aligned investment policy. Sarah is a Level II candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst Program. She currently works as the Coordinator of the New Economy Network, an organizing platform for communication, collaboration and coordination between individuals and organizations working on systemic economic change. Sarah lives in New York with her husband Henry Richardson, a glass sculptor, and their three sons.
