THE 2018 INCLUSIVE ECONOMY CHALLENGE

The Inclusive Economy Challenge is a call to action for B Corps to make concrete improvements to our business practices in pursuit of a more inclusive economy – one that is equitable and creates opportunity for all for the long term. Beginning at last year’s Champions Retreat, participating B Corps set three or more goals for improvement based on the Inclusive Economy Metric Set. We’re proud to share their progress so far.

We’ve seen leaders in our community eliminate wage gaps, overhaul supplier programs, and expand the ownership of their companies—all since the last Champions Retreat. See today’s presentation on the collective impact of our pilot year.

B Lab will be proudly supporting the B Corp Inclusive Economy Challenge in 2018 and beyond, and we look forward to continuing to highlight the incredible efforts of participating B Corps. Whether you’re new to the Challenge or participated in 2017, let us know you’ll be taking measurable steps toward an inclusive economy over the next year.

WHAT’S NEW IN THE INCLUSIVE ECONOMY CHALLENGE

Climate Change

Marginalized communities are disproportionately affected by climate change, environmental neglect, and natural disasters. In recognition, we’re including metrics focused on mitigating climate change to our Inclusive Economy Metric Set.

Vulnerable Workers

The updated Inclusive Economy Metric Set also includes a deeper focus on positive business practices for the most vulnerable workers, including living wage, financial services, and “second chance” employment.

COMING SOON FROM CHAMPIONS RETREAT

10 Years of Impact The first B Corps were certified ten years ago. We’re taking a moment to look back on the past decade and plan for the decade to come.
