The GRAMMYs are next week and with them comes an opportunity to honor some amazing artists. But first we wanted to recognize some rockstars of our own.
Rockstars inspire us. They make us think, “That’s awesome! I want to do that”.
That’s why in past months, B Lab has partnered with Fast Company to highlight Rockstars of the New Economy – companies which inspire us with their ability to make money and make a difference and to achieve both high growth and high impact. Past Rockstars includes companies like Revolution Foods, Better World Books, Happy Family, Guayaki, DIRTT, and Sungevity. We’ve also profiled a few Emerging Artists like Warby Parker and Lumni that are young and disruptive and have the potential to scale fast. (Check out the full series here)
But great companies are not just fast, they are built to last. So today we recognize three new Rockstars with Lifetime Achievement Awards – solar company Sun Light & Power, natural household and personal care manufacturer Seventh Generation and America’s oldest flour company, King Arthur Flour. These businesses exemplify qualities particularly important in times with uncertain economic outlook — durability, resilience, and the ability to adapt and not just survive, but thrive, in an ever-changing marketplace. Operating from 25 to nearly 225 years, these companies have maintained their commitment to mission through up and down business cycles and continued to create high quality jobs and to improve the quality of life in their communities.
These companies are models for today’s growing class of social and environmentally conscious capitalists and part of the amazing community of 690 Certified B Corporations – all inspiring in their own way. (You can learn more about the community at bcorporation.net.)
Please stay tuned as we highlight more Rockstars throughout the year. Next up: the Women of Rock! And as always, B the Change!
