With great pride, we introduce to you World Pulse’s very first Voices of Our Future–a new network of 30 grassroots women correspondents reporting live from 21 nations. Selected from over 500 applicants from 90 countries, these are women speaking out on the frontlines of social change from some of the most forgotten corners of the world. Calling themselves “voices for the voiceless” of their regions, they are learning to use new media to change their lives and uplift their communities.

Throughout 2009 each correspondent will receive rigorous training from experts in web 2.0, rapid cell phone reporting, and citizen journalism. Each correspondent will be published in World Pulse Magazine and has also been paired with an empowerment mentor so that she can more easily reach her dream. This annual program is the first phase of World Pulse’s work to grow networks of empowered grassroots women correspondents reporting from the ground in every region of the world.
