The Quickening

Emerging from 100 Thousand Poets for Change (100TPC), global art movement for a more peaceful and sustainable world, 100 Thousand Women Poets for Change – “The Quickening” – is organized by Mila Popovich (www.milapopovich.com).

As the first component of the 100TPC/Denver Metro series, “Clan Between the Wor]l[ds,” a week-long set of events led by the poet/publisher Michael Annis, and its launching point, “The Quickening” is envisioned to bring forth women’s voices and creativity and to source feminine intelligence, which is in all of us, for social transformation. The event evokes the quickening of a new life in a woman’s body and new purpose in her life, the rising of a new vision for our world, and the acceleration of women’s leadership toward that vision.

100 Thousand Women Poets for Change is proud to co-launch in partnership with the global initiative, World Dream Day 2016 (www.dayfordreamers.com ) and its founder Ozioma Egwuonwu, the COO of the global organization Rising Women Rising World (http://risingwomenrisingworld.com/). We are partnering up with global organizations such as Ozioma’s Burn Bright International and Mila’s EvolvED Leadership, local collaborators such as Jefferson Symphony, and sponsors such as Denver Botanic Gardens. We are proud to be gathering in the heart of the city under the auspices and generous support of the City of Denver Arts and Venues (www.artsandvenues.com) and in the renovated and newly reopened McNichols Civic Center (www.mchnicholsbuilding.com).

The quickening of the voices of women are calling for and engendering the emergence of a new world. This is what poetry of action sounds like. This is poetry in action. And we are social artists – re-writing our stories, changing the world.

We will gather a series of female poets, dancers, musicians and community leaders and our male allies, partners and co-creators to evoke, empower and elevate the messages of gender equality, peace and sustainability. The event is open to the public and invites people of all genders, backgrounds and orientations but will primarily feature, highlight and promote female creatives.
